Principal Platform Engineer
Director of Technology @ ViziSites
↓About
Professional Summary
I’m a principal-level platform engineer who owns code, cloud infrastructure, and security end to end. My title at ViziSites is Director of Technology; the work is hands-on: I design the architecture, write the code, operate the infrastructure, and carry the pager. I built and solely operate an internal operations platform on Google Kubernetes Engine that manages 900+ client sites for a 63-person agency.
The value is market-tested: an outside vendor quoted $9–12K/month plus 20+ account managers to replace the hosting and maintenance I run for about $4K/month. That efficiency comes from systems thinking: understanding how code, infrastructure, and operations connect, and building solutions that compound rather than accumulate technical debt.
I direct AI-assisted development as a daily practice: planning, reviewing, and debugging with AI inside architectures I design, with a working knowledge of exactly where it breaks down. Beyond the day role, I founded and run a business of my own, built from the ground up. Curious? Inquire to know more.

Career Journey
Built ViziPlatform (the agency’s internal operations platform of containerized microservices on Google Kubernetes Engine) and operate the hosting fleet behind 900+ client sites. Cut site staging and launch from about an hour to about a minute, and fleet-wide updates from days to about an hour, backed by automated smoke tests on every site. Own company-wide InfoSec, the reliability model, and cloud cost end to end; built the engineering internship program (12 interns, 1 hired full-time).
- Caught production MongoDB at 80% storage and expanded the live volume with zero downtime.
- Traced recurring load spikes on a 60-core server to 3 compounding root causes and wrote the runbooks.
- Found and fixed a realtime broadcast that had been silently broken in production for 9 months.
- Rewrote thousands of theme files across hundreds of sites under active ADA lawsuit pressure, with zero breakage.
Founded and run a business built from the ground up: a managed hosting platform of 20+ containerized microservices on Kubernetes (Go services with event-driven queues, multi-tenant provisioning, automated backups, billing, and cloud cost reporting) behind a React/TypeScript control panel. I own the full stack end to end, from infrastructure and CI/CD to GitOps delivery, shipped through AI-assisted development. Want the details? Inquire to know more.

Built the first generation of the company’s site automation with headless Chrome (later rebuilt on direct server APIs and SSH), which grew into ViziPlatform. Owned the creation and life-cycle of technical solutions and the company-wide InfoSec posture, and automated recurring work out of several departments’ weekly load.
Built and maintained full-stack solutions for internal teams and client sites, and supported InfoSec and cloud operations, bridging the gap between development and infrastructure that would define my career trajectory.
Integrated React into a Ruby on Rails project with Dockerized services at a respected development shop, working test-driven both independently and in teams, an experience that sharpened my understanding of professional software craftsmanship.
Transitioned from infrastructure into code, building websites and full-stack web applications for clients. This period was a deliberate pivot, applying years of systems knowledge to software development and discovering the intersection of operations and engineering that would become my specialty.
The career foundation: six years of hands-on IT support spanning help desk, network administration, and independent consulting. Built the systems-thinking mindset and troubleshooting instincts that later bridged development and operations, making the leap to DevOps and cloud architecture a natural evolution rather than a career change.
